The main aim behind the establishment of KGBV girls’ schools is to provide basic education to rural poor girls. These schools are functioning under the scheme of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Girls who do not go to school, drop outs in the middle of school, orphans, families below the poverty line can enroll in these schools. Mostly 10 year old girls are admitted to the sixth class. There are a total of 352 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (AP KGBV Schools) across the state. AP KGB Schools runs just like in the manner of Gurukuls. Students can study up to the eighth class here in these schools.
